PROPHECY - Concerning The Messiah, And The Fulfillment (Part 2):
PROPHECY.-Concerning The Messiah, And The Fulfillment. (Part 2)
1. THE Lord (God) says to my Lord [the Messiah], Sit You at My right hand,
until I make Your adversaries Your footstool. [Matt. 26:64; Acts 2:34; 1 Cor. 15:25; Col. 3:1; Heb. 12:2.]
- Psalm 110:1
QUOTED IN:
He said to them, How is it then that David, under the influence of the (Holy) Spirit, calls Him Lord, saying,
The Lord said to My Lord, Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your Feet? [Ps. 110:1.]
- Matthew 22:43,44
David, himself (inspired), in the Holy Spirit declared, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies (a footstool) under Your feet. [Ps. 110:1.]
- Mark 12:36
For David himself says in [the] Book of Psalms, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand
Till I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. [Ps. 110:1.]
- Luke 20:42,43
For David did not ascend into the heavens; yet he himself says, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, and share My throne
Till I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. [Ps. 110:1.]
- Acts 2:34,35
Besides, to which of the angels has He ever said, Sit at My right hand - associated with Me in My royal dignity - till I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet? [Ps. 110:1.]
- Hebrews 1:13
COMMENTS:
Jesus said to him, You have stated [the fact]. More than that, I tell you, You will in the future see the Son of man seated at the right hand of the Almighty, and coming on the clouds of the sky. [Dan. 7:13; Ps. 110:1.] For Christ must be King and reign until He has put all [His] enemies under His feet. [P. 110:1.] If then you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. [Ps. 110:1.] THEREFORE then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony of the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance - unnecessary weight - and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us, Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher, [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. [Ps. 110:1.] God called His Son to His right hand to be associated with Him and His royal dignity. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit, according to the Word of God, we are seated in heavenly places with Jesus. Let us live like it!
2. The Lord has sworn, and will not revoke or change it: You are a priest for ever after the manner and order of Melchizedek. [Heb. 5:10; 7:11, 15, 21.]
- Psalm 110:4
QUOTED IN:
So too Christ, the Messiah, did not exalt Himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed and exalted by Him Who said to Him, You are My Son, today I have begotten You; [Ps. 2:7.]
As He says also in another place, You are a Priest [appointed] forever after the order (rank) of Melchizedek. [Ps. 110:4.]
- Hebrews 5:5,6
COMMENTS:
Besides, one does not appropriate for himself the honor [of being high priest], but he is called by God and receives it of Him, just as Aaron did. In the days of His flesh [Jesus] offered up definate, special petitions [for that which He not only wanted but needed], and supplications, with strong crying and tears, to Him Who was [always] able to save Him (out) from death, and He was heard because of His reverence toward God - His godly fear, His piety [that is, in that He shrank from the horrors of separation from the bright presence of the Father]. Nobody can truely make himself. Jesus said, "Follow Me and I will make you." Just as the Father sent Jesus into the world, appointed and exalted Him, we are His Sons and Daughters, He has begotten us. We are called to be Kings and Priests and to rule and reign with Jesus. Follow Him, believe in His Word, obey the Holy Spirit and God will make you.
3. The stone which the builders rejected is become the chief corner stone.
This is from the Lord and is His doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. [Matt. 21:42; Acts 4:11; 1 Pet. 2:7.]
- Psalm 118:22, 23
QUOTED IN:
Jesus asked them, Have you never read in the Scriptures, The very Stone which the builders rejected and threw away has become the Cornerstone; this was the Lord's doings, and it is marvelous in our eyes? [Ps. 118:22, 23.]
- Matthew 21:42
Have you not even read this [passage of] Scripture: The very Stone which [after putting It to the test] the builders rejected, has become the Head of the corner;
This is from the Lord and is His doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes? [Ps. 118:22, 23.]
- Mark 12:10,11
But [Jesus] looked at them and said, What then is [the meaning of] this that is written: The [very] Stone which the builders rejected has become the chief Stone of the corner? [Ps. 118:22, 23.]
- Luke 20:17
This [Jesus] is the Stone which was despised and rejected by you, the builders, but which has become the Head [the external angle] of the corner - the Cornerstone. [Ps 118:22.]
- Acts 4:11
COMMENTS:
Jesus is the Head of the Church which is His Body. He is the Foundation, Cornerstone and Capstone. Everything in the Tent of Meeting, Tabernacle and Temple pointed to Him. He marveled at the fact that the religious people of His day either didn't read the Scriptures or seek God's understanding about them. The Father allowed His Son to be despised and rejected of men, yet He was approved of God. We are the Temple of the Holy Spirit and the representation of Jesus today on this earth. Think it not strange when the world hates you as it did Him. Do what is right in the Lord's eyes and He will show His approval.
4. Save now, we beseech You, O Lord; send now prosperity, O Lord, we beseech You, and give to us success!
Blessed be he who comes in the name of the Lord; we bless you from the house of the Lord [you who come into His sanctuary under His guardianship]. [Mark 11:9, 10.]
- Psalm 118:25, 26
QUOTED IN:
And the crowd that went ahead of Him and those that followed Him kept shouting, Hosanna (O be propitious, graciously inclined) to the Son of David, the Messiah! Blessed (praised, glorified) be He Who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna (O be favorably disposed) in the highest (heaven)! [Ps. 118:26.]
- Matthew 21:9
And those who went before and those who followed cried out, Hosanna! (Be graciously inclined and propitious [to Him]!) Praised and blessed be He Who comes in the name of the Lord! [Ps. 118:26.]
- Mark 11:9
So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him. And as they went they kept shouting, Hosanna! Blessed is He and praise to Him Who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel! [Ps. 118:26.]
- John 12:13
COMMENTS:
The Passover Lamb is now riding into Jerusalem on a young donkey, [just] as it is written in Zechariah 9:9. The crowds are going wild and wanting to make Jesus the King of Israel, but God the Father has a much bigger and better plan. His purpose is to have the Son of David die for the sins of the world, rise from the dead and be King of kings and Lord of lords. Only in Jesus is there true prosperity and success. He came representing the Father in all things and now His Name is above all names. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Jesus said, "You shall not see Me again until you say, "Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the Lord!" This is the day that the Lord has made, so let us rejoice and be glad in it!
5. The Lord swore to David in truth; He will not turn back from it: Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne. [Ps. 89:3, 4; Luke 1:69; Acts 2:30, 31.]
There will I make a horn spring forth unto David and bud; I have ordained and prepared a lamp for My anointed [fulfilling the promises of old]. [1 Kings 11:36; 15:4; 2 Chron. 21:7; Luke 1:69.]
- Psalm 132:11, 17
QUOTED IN:
And He has raised up a Horn of salvation [that is, a mighty and valiant Helper, the Author of salvation] for us in the house of David His servant.
- Luke 1:69
Being however a prophet, and knowing that God had sealed to him with an oath that He would set one of his descendants on his throne, [Ps. 132:11.]
He forseeing this, spoke (by foreknowledge) of the resurrection of the Christ, the Messiah, that He was not deserted [in death] and left in Hades [the state of departed spirits], nor did His body know decay or see destruction. [Ps. 16:10.]
- Acts 2:30,31
COMMENTS:
Blessed - praised and extolled and thanked - be the Lord God of Israel, because He has come and brought deliverance and redemption to His people! This is as He promised by the mouth of His holy prophets from the most ancient times (in the memory of man), That we should have deliverance and be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who detest and pursue us with hated; To make true and show the mercy and compassion and kindness [promised] to our forefathers, and to remember and carry out His Holy covenant [to bless, which is the more sacred because made by God Himself]. The Word Horn here signifies the strength of the Lord. That it is His doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. David had faith in the Word of God and knew that He would fulfill all of His promises. In Truth God swore to David that He would ordain and prepare a lamp for His Anointed One, the Messiah, Christ Jesus. This Jesus God raised up as the Firstfruit of the Dead to be the Light of the World, a Mighty and Valiant Helper and the Author of Salvation. God sealed to David these things with an oath and He has sealed us with His Holy Spirit until the Day of Redemption!
6. Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign, Behold, the young woman who is unmarried and a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel - God with us. [Matt. 1:22, 23; Isa. 9:6; Jer. 31:22; Mic. 5:3-5.]
- Isaiah 7:14
QUOTED IN:
All this took place that it might be fulfilled which the Lord had spoken through the prophet,
Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which when translated means, God with us. [Isa. 7:14.]
- Matthew 1:22,23
COMMENTS:
Mary had a Son, and they called His Name Jesus [in Hebrew means Savior], for He was to save His People from their sins [that is, to prevent their failing and missing the True end and scope of Life, which is God]. Joseph had a dream, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him; he took [Mary to his side as] his wife, but he had no union with her as her husband until she had borne her first-born Son. So, Mary was a young virgin girl who had never laid with a man before and conceived Jesus in her womb by the Holy Spirit of God the Father. Afterwards, she and Joseph had other sons and daughters of their own according to the Scriptures. Immanuel or Emmanuel both literally mean, With Us Is God. Jesus was God manifest in human flesh to show the world the Way to the Father. He was the sign promised by the prophets and when He came to His own, they knew Him not. Not only was He the first-born Son of Man through Mary, but He is the Only Begotten of the Father and the First Fruit of the Resurrection. Jesus was conceived in a virgin womb, rose again from a virgin tomb and presents us as the Virgin Bride of Christ without spot or wrinkle in the eyes of the Father. Submit to the will of God and allow Him to bring forth His Son in your Life.
7. BUT [in the midst of judgement there is the promise and the certainty of the Lord's deliverance] there shall be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time the Lord brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time He will make it glorious, by the way of the Sea of Galilee, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of intense darkness and the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined. [Matt. 4:15, 16.]
- Isaiah 9:1, 2
QUOTED IN:
And leaving Nazareth He went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the country of Zebulun and Naphtali,
That what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be brought to pass:
The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali in the way to the sea beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles [that is, of the peoples who are not of Israel]; [Isa. 9:1, 2.]
The people who sat (dwelt enveloped) in darkness have seen a great Light, and for those who sat in the land and shadow of death Light has dawned.
- Matthew 4:13-16
COMMENTS:
John the Baptist had just been arrested and put in prison. From that time Jesus began to preach, crying out, Repent - that is, change your mind for the better, heartily amend your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins - for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we should fear no evil, for God is with us. Could anything Good come out of Nazareth? Yes, the promise of Isaiah 9:1,2 was fulfilled in Jesus. He is the Light of the World! Jesus left Nazareth for Capernaum (the City of Comfort) to comfort those dwelling in Zebulun and Naphtali. Baptized in the Jordan River by John, Jesus was on His way to bring the Gentiles into the fold as well. The Father had promised a Messiah for all Nations and all Peoples to be reconciled unto Him. God so Loved the World that He gave us Jesus!
8. Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that latter time forth, even for evermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. [Dan. 2:44; 1 Cor. 15:25-28.]
- Isaiah 9:7
And there was given Him, [the Messiah,] dominion and glory and kingdom, that all peoples, nations and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom one which shall not be destoyed. [Rev. 5:1-10.]
And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heavens shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High; His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions shall serve and obey Him.
- Daniel 7:14, 27
QUOTED IN:
He will be great (eminent) and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to Him the throne of His forefather David,
And He will reign over the house of Jacob throughout the ages, and of His reign there will be no end. [Isa. 9:6, 7; Dan. 2:44.]
- Luke 1:32, 33
COMMENTS:
Jesus is now seated at the right hand of God the Father and He will rule and reign forever. Every knee will bow and tongue confess that Jesus is Lord!
9. And it shall be in that day that the Root of Jesse shall stand for a signal to the peoples; of Him shall the nations inquire and seek knowledge, and His dwelling shall be glory - His rest glorious! [John 12:32.]
- Isaiah 11:10
QUOTED IN:
And further Isaiah says, There shall be a Sprout from the Root of Jesse, He Who rises to rule over the Gentiles; in Him shall the Gentiles hope. [Isa. 11:1, 10.]
- Romans 15:12
COMMENTS:
The Hebrew word for Sprout means Branch. The prophet said that the Messiah will be called the Branch. This is also the root word from which we get Nazareth. God's Word tells us that the Anointed One will be called a Nazarene. Psalm 117:1 says, Let all the peoples praise Him! Paul knew that the Gospel message was not only for the Jews, but for the Gentiles as well. Jesus shines out as a Light in this dark world, so that all nations can enter His rest. He rose from the dead to bring hope to a dying world. May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing - through the experience of your faith - that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.
10. He will swallow up death in victory - He will abolish death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of His people He will take away from off all the earth; for the Lord has spoken it. [2 Tim. 1:10; 1 Cor. 15:36, 54.]
- Isaiah 25:8
QUOTED IN:
And when this perishable puts on the imperishable and this [that was] capable of dying puts on freedom from death, then shall be fulfilled the Scripture that says, Death is swallowed up (utterly vanquished, forever) in and unto victory. [Isa. 25:8.]
- 1 Corinthians 15:54
COMMENTS:
O Victory in Jesus! My Savior Forever! He sought me and bought me with His Redeeming Blood! God has spoken it and it is finished! No more sin, no more death and no more tears. Our Lord Jesus Christ has made us more than conquerors in Him. He is the Resurrection and Eternal Life!
11. He shall come as a Redeemer to Zion, and to those in Jacob (Israel) who turn from transgression, says the Lord.
As for Me, this is My covenant or league with them, says the Lord: My Spirit Who is upon you [and Who writes the law of God inwardly in the heart], and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your [true, spiritual] children, or out of the mouth of your children's children, says the Lord, from henceforth and for ever. [Rom. 11:26, 27; Gal. 3:29; Heb. 12:22-24.]
- Isaiah 59:20, 21
QUOTED IN:
Lest you be self-opinionated - wise in your own conceits - I do not want you to miss the hidden truth and mystery, brethren: a hardening (insensibility) has [temporarily] befallen a part of Israel [to last] until the full number of the ingathering of the Gentiles has come in,
And so all Israel will be saved. As it is written, The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will banish ungodliness from Jacob. [Isa. 59:20, 21.]
And this will be My covenant - My agreement - with them when I shall take away their sins. [Jer. 31:33; Isa. 27:9.]
- Romans 11:25-27
COMMENTS:
The Old Covenant only covered the sins by the sacrifices required, but the New takes them away. The Blood of Jesus takes away our sin and shame. Through the Holy Spirit we now have access to God's Throne of Grace. The Redeemer has come and by faith in Him we have the law of God written in our hearts. His law shall not depart from our mouths, our chldren's mouths or our children's children from henceforth and for ever more. The Deliverer has come to turn us from our transgressions, so harden not your hearts Today when you hear His Voice.
12. Therefore thus says the Lord God, Behold, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a Stone, a tested Stone, a precious Cornerstone of sure foundation; he who believes - trusts in, relies on and adheres to that Stone - will not be ashamed or give way or make haste [in sudden panic]. [Rom. 9:33; 1 Pet. 2:4-6.]
- Isaiah 28:16
QUOTED IN:
As it is written, Behold I am laying in Zion a Stone that will make men stumble, a Rock that will make them fall; but he who believes in Him (who adheres to, trusts in and relies on Him) shall not be put to shame nor be disappointed in his expectations. [Isa. 28:16.]
- Romans 9:33
For thus it stands in Scripture: Behold, I am laying in Zion a chosen, (honored,) precious chief Cornerstone; and he who believes in Him - who adheres to, trusts in and relies on Him - shall never be disappointed or put to shame. [Isa. 28:16.]
- 1 Peter 2:6
COMMENTS:
[Come] and as living stones be yourselves built [into] a spiritual house, for a holy (dedicated, consecrated) priesthood, to offer up [those] spiritual sacrifices [that are] acceptable and well-pleasing to God through Jesus Christ. We are the temple of the Living God built on Jesus Who is the foundation, the chief Cornerstone and the Capstone. He is the All in All and all things are held together by Him. Thus says the Lord God, as it is written and for thus it stands in Scripture are all pointing to Jesus. He never fails and when you believe in Him you will never be disappointed or put to shame.
13. A voice of one who cries, Prepare in the wilderness the way of the Lord - clear away the obstacles - make straight and smooth in the desert a highway for our God! [Mark 1:3.]
Every valley shall be liftd and filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked and uneven shall be made straight and level, and the rough places a plain.
And the glory - majesty and splendor - of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it. [Luke 3:5, 6.]
- Isaiah 40:3-5
QUOTED IN:
This is he who was mentioned by the prophet Isaiah when he said, The voice of one crying in the wilderness - shouting in the desert: Prepare the road for the Lord; make His highways straight (level, direct). [Isa. 40:3.]
- Matthew 3:3
Just as it is written in the prophet Isaiah: Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will make ready Your way; [Mal. 3:1.]
A voice of one crying in the wilderness - shouting in the desert - Prepare the way of the Lord, make His beaten-tracks straight (level and passable)! [Isa. 40:3.]
- Mark 1:2, 3
As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah he prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness (shouting in the desert): Prepare the way of the Lord; make His beaten paths straight.
Every valley and ravine shall be filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be leveled down, and the crooked places shall be made straight, and the rough roads shall be made smooth;
And all mankind shall see (behold and understand [and at last acknowledge]) the salvation of God - the deliverance from eternal death decreed by God. [Isa. 40:3-5.]
- Luke 3:4-6
COMMENTS:
Prepare ye the way of the Lord! Every valley, ravine, mountain, hill, crooked place and rough road shall be made straight by the Lord Jesus. All mankind shall see with their eyes and know that He is the Messiah! In a dry and weary land, God sent His messenger (John the Baptist) to bring streams of Living Water through the Good News (Gospel of Jesus Christ). The times of refreshing had come in the fulfillment of Jesus. Shout it in the desert! Shout it from the roof top! Shout to the Lord! Jesus made straight the Way to the Father. He is God's Messenger, so listen to Him.
14. BEHOLD My Servant, Whom I uphold; My elect, in Whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice and right, and reveal truth to the nations. [Matt. 3:16, 17.]
He will not cry or shout aloud or cause His voice to be heard in the street.
A bruised reed He will not break, and a dimly burning wick He will not quench; He will bring forth justice in truth. [Matt. 12:17-21; 7:29.]
He will not fail or become weak, or be crushed and discouraged till He has established justice in the earth, and the islands and coastal regions shall hopefuly wait for and expect His direction and law. [Rom. 8:22-25.]
- Isaiah 42:1-4
QUOTED IN:
This was in fulfillment of what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah,
Behold, My Servant Whom I have chosen, My Beloved in and with Whom My soul is well pleased and has found its delight. I will put My Spirit upon Him, and He shall proclaim and show forth judgement to the nations.
He will not strive or wrangle or cry out loudly, nor will any one hear His voice in the streets;
A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering (dimly burning) wick He will not quench till He brings justice and a just cause to victory.
And in and on His name will the Gentiles - the peoples outside of Israel - set their hopes. [Isa. 42:1-4.]
- Matthew 12:17-21
COMMENTS:
Jesus had just healed the man with the withered hand on the Sabbath Day and according to the Scriptures, This was in fulfillment of what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah. He later cured a blind and dumb man, so that he spoke and saw. Was this Jesus the Son of David that the Nation of Israel had been waiting for all these years? Jesus was humble, meek and lowly, but He was Messiah, Christ and the Anointed One. The Spirit of the Lord was upon Him and He revealed Truth to the Nations, so that even the Gentiles could set their hopes in and on His Name.
15. And now, says the Lord Who formed me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, and that Israel might be gathered to Him and not swept away, for I am honorable in the eyes of the Lord and my God has become my strength;
He says, It is too light a thing that you should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the survivors [of the judgements] of Israel; I will also give you for a light to the nations, that My salvation may extend to the end of the earth.
- Isaiah 49:5, 6
QUOTED IN:
For with my [own] eyes I have seen Your Salvation [Isa. 52:10.]
Which You have ordained and prepared before (in the presence of) all peoples,
A Light for revelation to the Gentiles - to disclose what was before unknown - and [to bring] praise and honor and glory to Your people Israel. [Isa. 42:6; 49:6.]
- Luke 2:30-32
For so the Lord has charged us, saying, I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles - the heathen - that you may bring (eternal) salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth. [Isa. 49:6.]
And when the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified (praised and gave thanks for) the Word of God; and as many as were destined (appointed and ordained) to eternal life believed - adhered to, trusted in and relied on Jesus as the Christ and their Savior.
[But] to this day I have had the help which comes from God (as my ally), and so I stand here testifying to small and great alike, asserting nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses declared would come to pass;
That the Christ, the Anointed One, must suffer; and that He, by being the first to rise from the dead, would declare and show light both to the [Jewish] people and to the Gentiles.
- Acts 13:47, 48; 26:22, 23
COMMENTS:
Jesus Himself said, "I am the Light of the World!" These Scriptures speak for themselves. Simeon had the Holy Spirit upon him and it had been divinely revealed (communicated) to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One. He knew when he picked up the baby Jesus that he had seen God's Salvation. Simeon blessed Joseph and Mary and told them of their child's destiny. Not only would Jesus be pierced in His side by the sword of the Roman soldier, but a sword would pierce through Mary's own soul also. Jesus is the Light to the Nations! He told us that we are the light of the world and that we should let our light so shine.
16. WHO has believed - trusted in, relied upon and clung to - our message of that which was revealed to us? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been disclosed? [John 12:38-41; Rom. 10:16.]
- Isaiah 53:1
So that what Isaiah the prophet said was fulfilled, Lord, who has believed our report and our message? And to whom has the arm (the power) of the Lord been shown - unveiled and revealed? [Isa. 53:1.]
- John 12:38
But they have not all heeded the Gospel; for Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed (had faith in) what he has heard from us? [Isa. 53:1.]
- Romans 10:16
Even when Jesus healed the sick, raised the dead and preached the Kingdom of God there were still people who did not believe in Him. So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ, the Messiah [Himself]. He who has ears to hear let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the Churches. Believest thou these things?
17. He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness; and as one from Whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs - sickness, weakness and distress - and carried our sorrows and pain [of punishment]. Yet we ignorantly considered Him stricken, smitten and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. [Matt. 8:17.]
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement needful to obtain peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes that wounded Him we are healed and made whole.
All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has made to light on Him the guilt and iniquity of us all. [1 Pet. 2:24, 25.]
- Isaiah 53:3-6
QUOTED IN:
[But] to this day I have had the help which comes from God (as my ally), and so I stand here testifying to small and great alike, asserting nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses declared would come to pass;
That the Christ, the Anointed One, must suffer; and that He, by being the first to rise from the dead, would declare and show light both to the [Jewish] people and to the Gentiles.
- Acts 26:22, 23
COMMENTS:
No one person in all of human history has made an impact on the world like the Life of Jesus. The portion of Scripture from Isaiah clearly describes the Man and all He went through for us. He bore it all! The Apostle Paul knew the Life of suffering for the Lord, but also knew that the Lord stood by him and with him through it all. True Peace and well-being can only be obtained by accepting Jesus as the sacrifice for our sins, believing it in our hearts and confessing it with our mouths. He is Lord and by being the first to rise from the dead He has shown Light to both Jew and Gentile alike.

Turn to me and be saved, all who live at the ends of the earth, because I am God, and there is no other.
Isaiah 45:22
Have you not even read this [passage of] Scripture: The very Stone which [after putting It to the test] the builders rejected, has become the Head of the corner;
Every valley and ravine shall be filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be leveled down, and the crooked places shall be made straight, and the rough roads shall be made smooth;
He will not strive or wrangle or cry out loudly, nor will any one hear His voice in the streets;
15. And now, says the Lord Who formed me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, and that Israel might be gathered to Him and not swept away, for I am honorable in the eyes of the Lord and my God has become my strength;
[But] to this day I have had the help which comes from God (as my ally), and so I stand here testifying to small and great alike, asserting nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses declared would come to pass;
QUOTED IN:
[But] to this day I have had the help which comes from God (as my ally), and so I stand here testifying to small and great alike, asserting nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses declared would come to pass;
